Welcome Back!

Dear Koch Elementary Families,

I am both honored and excited to introduce myself as the new principal of Koch Elementary School. My name is Dr. Amy Blackwell, and I come to you with a wealth of experience and a deep commitment to fostering a nurturing and dynamic educational environment for our students.

Over the past few years, I have had the privilege of serving as a school leader within the Saint Louis Public Schools' district since 2021. My journey in education began as an English Language Arts teacher, and I later served as Dean of Students in the Normandy district. These experiences have shaped my educational philosophy and underscored the importance of literacy and building strong, positive relationships within the school community.

As a mother of seven children, I understand firsthand the hopes, dreams, and concerns that parents have for their children’s education. I firmly believe that every child deserves a high-quality education that not only fosters academic excellence but also supports their social and emotional growth. Literacy and relationships are at the heart of everything we do as educators, and I am dedicated to ensuring that every student at Koch Elementary receives the support and encouragement they need to thrive.

This year promises to be an exciting journey filled with opportunities for growth and learning. Together, we will continue to build on the strong foundation already in place at Koch Elementary, creating a school culture that celebrates diversity, encourages curiosity, and inspires a love of learning.

I am eager to get to know each of you and work collaboratively to create an environment where our students can excel.
